Screen Agencies
We allocate £6.3 million a year to the regional and national screen agencies.
The nine regional screen agencies create a clear film strategy for different regions in England. They provide funding for production, screen commissions, cinema exhibition, training, archives and education.

The three national screen agencies are responsible for developing film television and broadcast new media in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
British Film Institute
The BFI receives £16 million a year from UK Film Council. It champions moving image culture, education and cinema heritage to benefit as wide an audience as possible. It also aims to deepen and encourage public debate about film.
First Light
First Light is a £1.1 million a year Lottery funded digital short filmmaking scheme that offers children and young people more opportunities to participate in and learn about filmmaking. It aims to increase the number of films made by young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
FILMCLUB
FILMCLUB gives pupils and teachers the chance to explore the world of film through after school film clubs. Through free weekly screenings, online reviewing, industry events and hands on support, FILMCLUB inspires, excites and opens up new avenues for learning. To date more than 2,500 film clubs have been set up and the aim is to reach 7,000 schools by 2011.
Skillset
The Skillset Film Skills Fund ensures a strong, consistent supply of skilled and talented professionals in line with market demand and aims to build a bigger and better future for the film industry in the UK. As the first ever comprehensive training strategy for the British film industry, it was launched in September 2003.
MEDIA Desk UK
MEDIA Desk UK is the information office for the MEDIA Programme. It offers support and advice for UK applicants. The MEDIA Programme offers a wide variety of funding for film and television, covering training, development, distribution, events and festivals.
